A BID to create a new home by adding to an existing terrace of homes in Chadwell St Mary has been rejected by planning officers.

An application was made to create a three storey, two bedroom dwelling adjacent to 18 Feryby Road, Chadwell St Mary.

However, the scheme was vetoed by officers who said the infill development would, by reason of its design, scale and appearance, appear as an unbalanced and unsympathetic addition in relation to the associated terrace.

In rejecting the application officers added: "The proposal would also extend beyond the notional building line of Feryby Road and Cedar Road appearing as an incongruous and dominant feature within an existing open spacious corner plot. This would be out of character with the immediate street scene resulting in a visually harmful addition."

A full report on the application and the reasons for refusal can be found here.
