AFTER failed applications to build eight, five and then two new houses on a rural Thurrock plot of land, officers have given the go-ahead for a five bedroom home to be built on the site adjacent to Brentwood Road and Peartree Lane in Bulphan.

Three previous applications to build multiple homes on the site were rejected by councillors on Thurrock Council's planning committee and opposed by officers but the latest application for just one five bedroom house has won officers around and they have made a delegated decision to approve.

Full details of the approved new building can be found here.

The application seeks planning permission to demolish an existing structure, an open-sided pole barn, situated centrally within the application site and to erect the new dwelling with a detached double garage, associated hardstanding, vehicle access/hardstanding and landscaping

Council officers now say the principle of a dwelling within the site 'is considered to be acceptable, given that the proposal would not have a greater impact upon the openness of the green belt to of that of the existing structure at the site'.

They add: "The design of the new dwelling is acceptable, and it would not have an unacceptable impact to the amenities of any neighbouring properties."

The decision delivered to the applicants can be found via this link.
