THURROCK's police chief will be getting up close and personal with members of the local community on Monday and says he is looking forward to hearing their views.

Ch Insp Danny Barnes took over the Thurrock division in February and is very keen to hear from residents on Monday night (20 July) at the Little Thurrock Community Forum.

He says: "I'm really looking forward to meeting residents at the Forum.

"Since taking up the role of District Commander, I have already begun a number of operations and initiatives across Thurrock, but it is vital that I hear directly from the people who live and work in our communities.

"These events are about listening. I want to understand what matters most to residents, what concerns they have, and where they think we need to focus our efforts.

"I can't promise that we will be able to solve every issue overnight, and I won't pretend we can be everywhere all of the time. What I can promise is that I will listen, I will be honest about what we can and can't do, and where action can be taken, we will take it.

"My priorities remain clear – tackling anti-social behaviour, focusing on high-harm offences including domestic abuse, and improving the quality of service and contact that victims receive.

"These meetings give residents the opportunity to help shape the local policing response and ensure we are focusing on the issues that matter most to them.

"I hope as many people as possible will come along and take the opportunity to speak with me and the Neighbourhood Policing Team."
