A TILBURY woman, three teenagers and a boy aged 12 will appear for trial at Southend Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 30 April after denying a series of charges of assault and harassment that were racially motivated.

The charges stem from an incident in Tilbury in February last year. The 12-year-old boy faces three charges of assault.

Identification of the accused, including the 39 year-old woman, is not permitted because of legal reason because of the age of the majority of the defendants, who live at two different addresses in Tilbury.

A STANFORD-le-Hope man admitted racially aggravated harassment and was fined £213.

Kevin David Sorenson, 56, of Manor Road, appeared before magistrates in Basildon and pleaded guilty to the charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Benik Shabnai.

He was also ordered to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £247. No order for compensation was made as magistrates deemed it was not necessary and they took the defendant's guilty plea into account when imposing sentence.

Had the offence not been racially aggravated, the sentence would have been a conditional discharge.

A WOMAN was ordered to pay back £2,162.86 after found guilty of fraud.

Emma Wilkins, 54, of Hill House Drive, Chadwell St Mary, had denied that she made a false representation, stating she was unable to work and claiming a sick leave salary while being employed and carrying out paid duties for Take4Care. She falsely claimed salary of £2162.86.

In addition to paying back the money Wilkins was ordered to pay costs of £500.

A WOMAN will face trial after pleading not guilty to two charges of assault.

Sarah Jane Roberts, 47, of Maples, Stanford-le-Hope, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court to deny both charges and was released on conditional bail until the trial at Southend on Thursday, 16 April.

CHRISTOPHER Wilson, 26, of Bermuda Road, Tilbury, appeared before magistrates at Chelmsford, where he denied two charges of assault and one of destroying a honeypot.

He will now face trial at Southend Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 16 April.

CRAIG Gareth William Hammond, 34, of Harding Road, Grays, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled drug and also of carrying an offensive weapon.

Basildon magistrates were told the weapon was a wooden bat.

Hammond was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid community work. He also had to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £195.

BRIAN Alfred Turner, 49, of Fourth Avenue, West Thurrock, admitted breaching the conditions of a community order and in addition to previous sentencing must now work 15 hours unpaid community service.

MARK Tunde Orebela, of Banner Close, Purfleet, has denied obstructing an enforcement officer by parking in front of the agent's vehicle, preventing him from seizing a vehicle.

He will face trial at Southend Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 16 April.

A MAN living in Tilbury will face trial at Basildon Crown Court tomorrow (27 February) where he faces two charges of touching a woman in a sexual manner when she did not consent.

Daniel Akinolushola, 25, of Dock Road, elected for trial by jury when he appeared at Basildon Magistrates' Court. He was granted unconditional bail.

ALSO due to appear at the Crown Court tomorrow will be Ethan McIntosh, 24, of Corran Way, South Ockendon, and Grant Mingay of Clockhouse Lane, North Stifford, who are charged with possession of a quantity of cannabis and possession of criminal property, cash totalling £598.60.

It was indicated that they would plead guilty but magistrates directed the trial be at a higher court.

A FURTHER trial scheduled for Basildon Crown Court tomorrow will see Henrietta Oyibo, 48, of Arthur Street, Grays, plead not guilty to two charges of assaulting police officers. She also pleads not guilty to driving with over the permitted limit of alcohol and to driving without insurance.

PAUL Richard Sneddon, 31, of Kendal, Purfleet, admitted driving under the influence of a controlled drug and was banned from driving for 12 months. He was fined £120 and also had to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £530.

RAJ Kumar, 43, was remanded on unconditional bail and ordered to appear for trial at Basildon Magistrates' Court on 20 March after pleading not guilty to failing to prove a specimen of breath in the course of an investigation into whether he had committed a driving offence.

IAN Robert Henderson, 41, of Sandhurst Road, Tilbury, admitted sending an indecent text message Urszula Faron and assaulting her. He was granted bail on condition he does not contact his victim and will be sentenced at Southend Magistrates' Court on 2 March.

MICHAEL Aldwinckle, 44, of Spencer Walk, Tilbury, will face trial at Basildon Crown Court on 2 March charged with theft of tools from The Cycle Hub, Calcutta Road, Tilbury, and carrying a weapon - a meat cleaver - during the raid. He is also charged with possessing cocaine.

BRIAN Burt, 50, of Rosedale Road, Grays, admitted breaching the requirements of a community order and was fined £40, with costs of £60. The order will continue.

A GRAYS resident, Idetiyene Essienubo, 30, of Stanley Road, will face a number of charges when he appears at Basildon Crown Court on Monday, 2 March including assault, rape and threat to kill. He was remanded in custody.

ABBEY Marie Hodder, 26, of Darwin Road, Tilbury, pleaded not guilty when she appeared at Basildon Magistrates' Court charged with theft of clothing and assault.

She was found guilty on both charges and fined £300 and ordered to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £652.

DEAN Peck, 33, of Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon, admitted carrying an offensive weapon - a kitchen knife at South Ockendon Police Station. He will be sentenced at Southend Magistrates' Court on 3 March.

A CURFEW order has been imposed on Sonny Fuller, 21, of Crusader Close, Purfleet, who admitted breaching a community order imposed for a number of offences including possession of cannabis and criminal damage. He must remain at his home between 7pm and 7am daily.

OLAWALE Hassan, 33, of Falcon Avenue, Grays, will face trial at Basildon Crown Court on 2 March charged with a number of sexual offences including rape.

HARRY Tokley, 18, of St Margaret's Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope, received a conditional 12 month discharge after admitting a series of thefts including ten women's coats to the value of £700 from the Choice Discount Store in Benfleet and meat and goods from other stores totalling more than £75. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation.

MARC Board, 40, of Southend Road, Grays, admitted assaulting Danielle Sadler. He will be sentenced on 3 March until when he has been granted bail on condition he does not contact his victim.

KYLE Thomas Peter Sherwin, 33, of Dowland, Stanford-le-Hope, admitted possession of drugs, theft and carrying a knife. He will serve 13 weeks in jail.

DAVE Lee-John Steingold, 45, of London Road, Grays, admitted harassing Eileen Hubbard causing her distress. He was fined £120 or ordered to pay £100 compensation and a surcharge and costs totalling £117.

Soon after he was back before magistrates and admitted threatening violence and demanding money so as not to cause acts of damage to property, the Istanbul Grill. He received a community rehabilitation order and was ordered to carry out unpaid community work for 150 hours. He is barred from entering the restaurant until, August 2021.
