Bringing Thurrock parks and wildlife into your front room

By Neil Speight 27th Mar 2020

WITH parks and natures reserves being put out of bounds to local folk because of the coronavirus lockdown a digital way for people to engage with local wildlife will be launched on Monday (30 March).

Essex Wildlife Trust is launching WildlifeTV which will offer for people the opportunity to get closer to nature and learn about ways that you can help protect it.

From top tips on how to make your garden wildlife friendly and wildlife safaris to wild workouts and outdoor learning classes, Essex Wildlife Trust is determined to give people their daily dose of nature even if they're stuck indoors.

There will be a range of informative videos across their social media channels, giving you the option to tune in at the best times for you.

There are also episodes aimed at children on the Trust's Outdoor Learning and Nature Tots Facebook pages.

Each week the Trust will be posting a TV-style schedule on their website and across their social media channels, covering the breadth of the work the Trust does and bringing wildlife and nature into people's homes when people need it most.

Emily McParland of Essex Wildlife Trust says: "Having a connection with nature is vital for our overall wellbeing and right now it is more important than ever to get your daily dose of nature.

"Although many of us will be stuck inside for the next few weeks, spring is a wonderful time in the natural world and we want to bring this wonderful time of year into people's homes.

"Our wildlife still needs us more than ever right now so it's vital for us as an organisation to remind people how wonderful Essex's wildlife is and to give people the tools to help wildlife thrive where they live. We hope you all enjoy watching!"

Alongside the digital episodes the Trust also has a host of wildlife webcams, live streams where you can watch the daily antics of barn owls, bats and badgers all from the comfort of your own home.
