A DISTURBANCE involving teenagers fighting in Grays High Street last night (Tuesday, 14 May) ended with two people requiring hospital treatment and two arrests.

The incident happened around 8pm and was centred on the top of Grays High Street and in the area around the train station.

Essex Police and British Transport Police officers responded to the incident.

A statement from Essex police says: "We were called to reports of a fight in High Street, Grays, shortly after 8.05pm on Tuesday, 14 May.

"It was reported that six people, all aged around 16 years, were involved and two sustained injuries that required hospital treatment. Their injuries are not considered life threatening.

"We have arrested two teenage boys on suspicion of affray.

"Our enquiries continue."

The East of England Ambulance Service added: "Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer vehicle attended."

The ambulance service also confirmed it attended an unconnected incident on the High Street close to the Greggs shop just before the fracas broke out further towards the river.

A statement says: "One ambulance was sent to High Street yesterday evening responding to a man with a medical emergency.

"One patient was assessed at the scene, but no ambulance transport was required."
