C2c overcharge customers after ticket machine glitch

By Neil Speight 10th Feb 2022

PASSENGERS on c2c rail services have been overcharged following an error in an update to the computer system which controls ticket machines.

The company, which operates seven stations in Thurrock on its services between Southend and London Fenchurch Street has apologised for overcharging passengers since Saturday (5 February), saying an "error" led to incorrect data being loaded into its ticketing system causing some tickets to be more expensive than they should be.

The company added: "We apologise for any issues this has caused."

It is urging passengers who have bought a ticket since Saturday which "unexpectedly increased in price" to contact its customer relations teams to arrange a refund.

The amounts overcharged run from a few pence to £1.70.

It is hoped the error will have been corrected overnight and correct prices will be operational today (Wednesday, 9 February).
