PASSENGERS on c2c trains have been asked if they saw a man linked to the alleged rape of a young man in the men's toilets at an east London train station.

The victim, in his 20s, was reportedly raped in toilets at Barking Station on Saturday, police said.

Specially trained officers are now supporting him after the ordeal, which reportedly happened between 5.10pm and 5.30pm.

A CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with the ordeal has been released and police say it could be "vital" for their investigation.

Officers are calling for anyone who recognises the man or who may have been in the men's toilets at the time to come forward.

Detective Inspector Jeremy Banks, of the British Transport Police, said: "We've been conducting extensive enquiries into the incident, and we believe that the man in the CCTV image could have vital information which would assist our investigation.

"If you recognise him, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Likewise, if you were in the men's toilets around this time, or noticed anything unusual at the station, please do let us know."
