Calamity council strikes again - yellow line blunders in Stanford-le-Hope

BLUNDER-strewn Thurrock Council – which has built a reputation as a calamity council in Stanford-le-Hope where it has had to repeatedly change ill-thought out parking plans - has shot itself in the foot again.

Crews of workmen were out and about recently painting double yellow lines on stretches of local residential roads.

However, it appears they got carried away with their job and have painted the lines in several places where they should not be – confusing residents and creating anomalies where allowable parking, now has to be done behind double yellows – affording the opportunity for traffic enforcement officers to issue tickets!

And areas where limited parking time is allowable, have also incorrectly been given no parking status.

The red-faced council had admitted the errors and says the lines will be removed shortly. It is not the first time this has happened! Exactly the same money-wasting exercise happened several years ago when double yellow lines were renewed in the same area.

Stanford West ward councillor Terry Piccolo says: "It has been confirmed that the contractors have got some of the road markings wrong. They are due to remedy the errors and they should be completed by the end of next week."
