A CHILD who attends a Thurrock primary school has been confirmed as having contracted Covid-19 and precautionary measures have now been put in place meaning some children will have to stay at home for nearly two weeks.

Woodside Academy in Grays made the announcement this morning (Saturday, 12 September).

A statement from the school, on Grangewood Avenue, Little Thurrock, said: "We have been informed that we have a child who has tested positive for Covid-19.

"Parents of that class have been notified and asked to keep children home until Wednesday, 23 September. All other children should attend school.

"To make sure we don't have to close any other classes or the whole school we need to increase our anti-Covid measures, and from Monday, 15 September masks or face coverings will be compulsory for any parents coming on site to drop off or collect children.

"There will be no exceptions."
