Call to shine a light on problem of anti-social behaviour

By Neil Speight 12th Jul 2020

WARD councillors in Grays are asking Thurrock Council to shine a light on a problem with anti-social behaviour.

Riverside ward councillors Martin Kern, Jane Potchecary and Tony Fish say that have been alarmed by a number of incidents close to the Thames, where there is little or no street lighting, leaving local residents wary.

Cllr Fish has reported the problem and has joined his colleagues in calling for an urgent audit of street lighting in the ward in order to deter the conditions for antis-ocial behaviour to take place.

He said: "We all know that anti-social behaviour thrives where poor street lighting allows it.

"Myself, Cllr Kerin and Cllr Pothecary have been dealing with poor lighting along our river front. We want to work with the council to make sure our residents are safe."
