POLICE officers in Grays have been on a mission to interact with local youngsters.
Community engagement officers recently paid a visit to the Wallaby class at Little Roos Nursery in Grays.
A force spokesperson said: "We brought along a full 'show and tell' of Essex Policing, speaking about the importance of communication, listening, and respecting one another — all key skills whether you're solving crimes or sharing crayons.
"The kids got hands-on with some of our kit and we spoke about the different bits of equipment we use and why.
"They were even given some very special police stickers and activity booklets.
"We wish to extend our thanks to the nursery leaders and the brilliant little Wallabies who made our visit so memorable."
The officers' next visit was to meet Grays Beavers at the United Reform Church.
The spokesperson added: "We gave the young adventurers a hands-on look at some of the kit we carry day-to-day, and even demonstrated how limb restraints work — safely and with plenty of giggles, of course!
"But beyond the gadgets and gear, we talked about something even more important: respect and communication. Whether you're in uniform or not, treating others kindly and speaking up when something's not right is what really makes a difference in our community.
"Huge thanks to the Beavers and their leaders for the warm welcome — we might just have met a few future officers in the making!"
