By Nub News Reporter 25th Mar 2026
THE cause of a fire that gutted a number of buildings on a West Thurrock commercial estate has been identified.
The blaze broke out last Sunday evening at the Queensbridge Industrial park on London Road, close to the junction with Motherwell Way.
Fire crews from ten stations in Essex and two in London were involved during the course of the night and following day.,
An investigation carried out to determine the cause of the fire found it started accidentally, due to an electrical fault.
One of the commanders of the operation, Group Manager Mark Eaglestone said: "Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their patience, co-operation and understanding while we continue to deal with this incident. We recognise the significant impact this has had on local businesses, both those directly affected by the fire and others disrupted by power outages and road closures.
"This has been a challenging incident, but our firefighters have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and commitment to bringing the fire under control and preventing it from spreading to neighbouring properties.
"This response has required a coordinated effort across the county, with fire crews attending the scene and others redeployed to maintain fire cover in other areas. We are grateful for the continued support from our partners and the community."
