COUNCILLORS in the Chafford Hundred area of Thurrock are calling on Essex Police to do more to combat anti-social behaviour and car crime.

Conservative councillors Abbie Akinbohun and Augustine Ononaji from the South Chafford ward and fellow Tories Cllr Mark Coxshall and Mark Coxshall and James Thandi from Chafford North Stifford recently welcomed the Conservative Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner of Essex, Roger Hirst, to their wards.

Cllr Akinbohun had asked for the meeting following complaints from residents and regularly witnessing problems around the station and across Chafford, pre and post the pandemic.

She said: "Even though there are more police working in Thurrock now we are still seeing anti-social behaviour and car crime across Chafford."

Mr Hirst was shown the station area, toured around Chafford Hundred and met with local business owners to better understand local issues.

Cllr Akinbohun added: "It was great to have Roger in Chafford to talk with all of the local councillors about their concerns in the community and the problems still experienced around the station.

"Getting the reassurance from the police for more visible patrols is great but I, and my fellow Chafford councillors will be pushing for even more. We need action in Chafford Hundred, visible action and we won't stop until this happens."
