Chafford parade and service rounds up a special day in Thurrock

THIS afternoon (Sunday, 13 November) saw a parade from Warren Primary School in Chafford Hundred to nearby Kershaw Close for a service of remembrance.

It took place at the site of a plaque commemorating American pilot Lt Samuel E. Kershaw who was killed when his plan crashed there on 21 February 1945, just after his 23rd birthday,

The service, which featured music from Thurrock Spectrum Brass Band was attended by dignitaries including borough Mayor Cllr James Halden and MP Jackie Doyle-Price as well as councillors.

Representatives of the armed forces, police and fire service as well as local youth organisations including air cadets, local scouts and pupils from Warren School also took part in the service.
