A CHARITY event held in Grays has been hailed a big success.

The Morrisons store in the town played host yesterday (Saturday, 28 August) to a collection of goods and cash for two local good causes.

Staff at the store teamed up with Thurrock Foodbank and Friends of Essex & London Homeless to fill a car park space with groceries.

And as a bonus, many shoppers and residents handed over cash!

The store's community champion Tarnya Bennett said: "We collected 33 crates of food and a little over £400 in cash. It was a wonderful day and just goes to show how much love there is in our borough."
