A CHILD was taken to hospital for treatment after being bitten by an animal yesterday (Tuesday, 16 April)

Details of the incident, which happened on King George VI Avenue, East Tilbury around 3pm remain sketchy but it is believed the child was bitten by a dog.

A statement from the East of England ambulance service, which called in the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and it landed in nearby Gobions Park, says: "We were called at 3.13pm yesterday with reports of a person who had been bitten by an animal in King George Vi Avenue, East Tilbury.

"We sent Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and ambulance officer vehicle.

"One child was taken to Basildon &Thurrock Hospital by land ambulance for further care."

Essex Police have also been contacted for information.
