RESIDENTS in Thurrock may remember our report in January about a young man and his dog who are walking the coast of the UK in support of the RSPCA and Mens Sheds.

Jordan Kealey, 25, got a warm welcome in Stanford-le-Hope with his dog Shyla and since moving on has completed a trek along the east of England coastline and is now in Dundee.

Yesterday he featured in the town's local newspaper, recalling his journey to date and explaining he has now acquired another dog called Jackson on the trek.

Jordan has explained why he now had two canine companions on his trek. saying: "Jackson is an 11 month old shepsky. On Saturday I got the train from Dundee to Blackburn then returned back to Dundee on Sunday to resume the journey as this little fella was in desperate need of a new home.

"It was either I sacrifice a couple days of this journey to go get him or he was going to have to go to a shelter.

Jackson

"Through no fault of his, his first owners neglected him and weren't walking or feeding him properly and although his new owners (two very old friends of mine) did't want to let him go, they don't have the facilities to keep up with him and his older brother in their situation.

"So he's coming on an adventure with Shyla and I. This is gonna bring on a whole new level of difficulty to the challenge with having to now train two dogs and feed them etc but that's just gonna make it all the more worthwhile when it comes to the finishing line.

"I couldn't let Jackson go to a shelter after hearing about him, it just wouldn't sit well in my heart. So he'll be joining Shyla's campaign on raising money for the RSPCA given the fact he's come from such a similar background."
