Cliff fall to rear of houses in Purfleet

POLICE and fire services were alerted at around 4am this morning after a small part of a cliff came crashing down.

The incident happened to the rear of apartments on Caspian Way, Purfleet. The road at the top of the cliff, Tank

Police remain on scene to ensure safety as small clumps of the chalk continue to fall periodically.

A statement from Essex Fire and Rescue says: "Firefighters went along this morning after being called to support, but no action was taken."

Thurrock Council said: " Road closures are in place including Tank Hill Road.

"The council were informed at 5.44am.this morning of a possible landslide. We quickly established that the land is on private property and passed the landlord's details onto the relevant emergency service teams."

Cars parked close to the fall have suffered minor damage and a bin shed partially covered by the fall.
