CONCERN is growing in a Thurrock community about an increasing number of incidents where an airgun or catapult is being used to wreak damage - the latest incident seeing windows in a local church shattered.

Many residents in East Tilbury have expressed their anger after car windows were shot at and smashed and other windows in building have been targeted.

And the damage to windows at St Catherine's Church in East Tilbury village has been widely condemned.

The damage to the church follows on from a random attack on an ambulance - which was put out of action after one of its windows was smashed on Queen Margaret's Road.

The weapon is either an airgun or a catapult firing ball bearings, several of which have been recovered after windows were smashed.

Police are already seeking information about the ambulance attack and anyone who has relevant information about any of the damage is asked to call them.

Some residents are now calling for an appeal to be set up to produce a reward for anyone who turns in the vandals.
