POLICE were called to deal with problems as rogue partygoers refused to obey the rules and celebrated late into the evening last night (Sunday, 28 November).

The incident happened at Chadwell Village Hall on Waterson Road in Chadwell St Mary and the organisation that runs it has apologised to nearby householders who were inconvenienced.

A statement this morning says: "Chadwell Village Hall would like to apologise for a function that went rogue on Sunday night.

"Police were called and had to close it down as they wouldn't close off the music at the time stated in our rules and regs for Sundays.

"The issue was dealt with as quickly as possible and the hall closed one hour later than it should have.

"The deposit is being withheld and the organiser barred from future hire. The committee will also discuss reducing the time for hire on Sundays to children's parties with a close down time of 8pm, adding a sound limiter and timers to all sockets in the building."
