THURROCK Council and its partners hosted a 'Safer Streets' event in Grays in a bid to find out where and why residents don't feel safe.

Organisations supporting the event included Essex Police, British Transport Police, SERICC, Samaritans and Craig's Trust.

Thurrock Council leader and cabinet member for public protection and anti-social behaviour, Cllr Rob Gledhill was also present and talking to residents about how they feel about safety in their community.

Cllr Gledhill, said: "The safety and wellbeing of our residents is at the core of everything we do.

"It is important that residents talk to us so that we know their concerns and can appropriately allocate funding and resources to improve safety and restore resident confidence in their area.

"If you didn't get the opportunity to attend the Safe Streets event yesterday, I strongly urge you to complete the online StreetSafe survey so your thoughts can also be heard."

The StreetSafe survey can be completed via this link.

The Safer Streets campaign is funded by the government and was jointly awarded to Thurrock Council and the Essex Police Fire and Crime Commissioner earlier this year.
