A MAJOR event for the over fifties in Thurrock later this month has been cancelled because of coronavirus.

Thurrock Over Fifties' Forum was due to host its annual older people's conference at the Civic Hall, Blackshots, on Thursday, 26 March, ironically with 'Health Matters' at the top of the agenda.

However, Toffs organiser Gerry Calder says the plug has been pulled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

He adds: "Watch out for new date when the crisis is over. All tickets booked will be honoured. Thanks for all your support."
