Cllr Vikki Hartstean is championing a week of action against child exploitation in Thurrock.

THURROCK Council will be hosting workshops and pop-up events across the borough in support of Child Exploitation Awareness Week.

From Monday, 17 March to Friday, 21 March, the council and its partners will be visiting schools in Thurrock and hosting pop-up stalls to share information about child exploitation and ways to keep young people safe.

Parents and carers can also attend a free virtual workshop which is taking place from 5.30pm until 6.30pm on Thursday 20 March, which will cover how criminals look to exploit children and give a better understanding of gangs.

People can find more information and register for the free virtual workshop on Thurrock Council's 'What's On' page.

Cllr Vikki Hartstean, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: "I am proud that Thurrock Council and its partners are playing their part in sharing vital information on how we can keep our children and young people safe from exploitation.

"Child exploitation comes in many forms and every child is potentially at risk. These workshops and information events will share some essential information on how to recognise the signs of exploitation and lower the risks of it occurring.

"We have plenty of opportunities for our residents to get involved throughout the week, whether it's by coming along to one of our pop-up stalls or joining our virtual workshop. Make sure to keep an eye out on Thurrock Council's social media platforms to find out when our team is out and about sharing information".
