THURROCK Council is asking residents to share their views on proposals for the development of a number of high-quality council homes in Loewen Road, Chadwell St Mary.

The site is one of the original 20 put forward by council at the turn of the year as potential development projects. Several of them have since been dropped after public objections.

The authority is putting a planning application together and says views shared by residents will help shape the proposals. The initial ideas outline plans for five new properties to be built on council-owned land.

Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "Chadwell St. Mary is a popular place to live and there is demand for a range of different types of new housing, from flats and starter homes to larger family-sized houses.

"We are eager for local residents to share their views on the proposal for the development of five, three-bedroom houses in this area. This feedback will help to inform the design and help us deliver council housing for Thurrock residents.

"As a council, we are committed to building high quality new homes, including investing in new council homes, and are working hard to ensure that any emerging proposals are of maximum benefit to the borough and its residents."

Residents that live and work close to the site will receive a leaflet containing information about the proposals and the council says more information can be found here where local residents can also share their views and comments. The online consultation will be open until Monday, 16 November.
