THURROCk Council has echoed a warning issued by the Environment Agency, which fears a high tide may cause a problem in some parts of the borough this afternoon (Tuesday, 13 September).

In particular the warning is urging people to stay away from Coalhouse Fort and the adjacent riverside near East Tilbury.

Warning residents not to put themselves in "unnecessary danger' Thurrock Council has posted an alert saying: "A flood warning is in effect for the Essex coast at Coalhouse Fort and surrounding marshland. Minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths is likely between 1:15pm and 5:15pm today. Please be vigilant."

The high tide will be between 1 and 5pm.
