THURROCK Council have apologised to residents in the west of the borough after a number of areas were left without bin collections - though some resident have flagged up that part of the problem is poor parking.

For some it will have been a second week without a collection because of last week's suspension of the service due to the weather, while others say the lack of collections goes back even further.

A statement from the council issued on social media said: "Some blue and green/grey bins in Aveley, Chafford Hundred, Grays and Purfleet-on-Thames were not collected on Friday, 19 February.

"We will return for these on Saturday, 20 February or no later than Monday, 22 February. We apologise for any convenience."

There has been no explanation for the failure to collect and some residents contacted Thurrock Nub News to express their disappointment.

In particular residents of Mill Lane in West Thurrock are particularly unhappy and say they have now been several weeks without a collection and had to have their accumulated waste taken away by private contractors as it was spilling onto the pavement.

However, just along London Road on Caspian Way resident also took to social media to bemoan the bad parking of some householders which blocked road and stopped bin wagons from being able to access part of the estate.
