A CALL has gone out to councillors in West Thurrock to put pressure on the borough council to do something about a road surface that residents and motorists say is rapidly deteriorating and is a danger to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

The stretch of road in question is the A1306 (old A13) between Tank Hill Road junction and the Botany Way/Circus Tavern Roundabout.

The issue has been raised on local social media pages with one resident saying: "There is a patch of road surface which has been breaking up for some considerable time and numerous potholes have been repaired so many times, it is now becoming a danger not only for road users but also pedestrians walking alongside the road.

"There are a couple of sections which are of concern and I have reported them to Thurrock Council. I met with an engineer and showed him the state of the road and he agreed it was not very good but it deemed not worthy of attention at this time.

"The council say they will continue to monitor it through routine inspections but I would hope our local councillors will look into this and I would ask residents and other members of the public to report this.

"We pay our council tax and vehicle tax for road maintenance and this section needs repairing."

Thurrock Council run a pothole reporting surface here.
