THURROCK Council has commenced a consultation about designated green spaces across the borough and three ward councillors have now championed a second site on their patch.
The council is seeking views of residents on local community and amenity areas as it picks up pace in its bid to complete the much-delayed local plan.
It is currently inviting nominations from residents of areas they think are important and should be preserved.
You can check out the council's consultation page via this link.
In the Grays Riverside ward local councillors Martin Kerin, Jane Pothecary and Tony Fish have already highlighted the importance of the Parker Road green space and now they are urging residents to show support for Kilverts Field.
A joint statement from the three Labour councillors who have nominated Kilverts Field by the side of the Thames to become a designated area, says: "We are pleased that we have 'placed a pin' on the map and nominated Kilverts Field for 'Green Space Designation.' This piece of land is a precious jewel in a very densely built-up part of our ward. It provides a 'green link' between the river front, and the Seabrooke Rise neighbourhood.
"Representing a densely urban ward such as ours, we are very aware of the need to protect what little precious green space we have. Kilverts Field is a prime example of a green space deserving to be recognised as 'Designated Green Space.'
"The consultation runs until Sunday, 6 March. We urge our residents to take part and nominate Kilverts Field. The more people who do so, the better the case will be."
Nominations can be made via this link.
The council is also seeking opinions of residents across the borough about other aspects of the local plan and what facilities are needed. You can read more about that via this Nub News link.
