Crossing battle must - and will - go on says campaigner

ONE of the strongest critics and ardent campaigner against the proposed Lower Thames crossing has given a new year message to residents that the fight against it is not lost.

Laura Blake, who is a member of the borough-based Thames Crossing Action Group, spoke up after a picture on a social media post showed a workman decked out in crossing branded hi-biz protective gear.

Other commented that the proposal was now certain to go ahead and protest is futile.

'Not so' says Laura.

She adds: "Apathy is one of the major problems with everything going on in the world at the moment.

"People seem to have given up having their say or wanting to at least try and make a difference. If you keep doing things in the same way nothing changes.

"For things to change people and their attitudes have to change! Those of us fighting this will at least know that we have done everything we can to try and stop, and at very least shape it.

"Be in no doubt the LTC will not improve things, the Dartford Crossing will still be over capacity even if LTC opens, and there are not adequate connections to the current road network, or for times when there are incidents at either crossing for traffic to efficiently migrate between the two crossings.

"These are all facts proven by Highways England's own data, and the more you research it the worse it gets, so personally I refuse to sit back and just accept what they are trying to inflict upon us without at least trying to fight this!"
