A THURROCK teacher who has completed a charity challenge and smashed his fundraising target has said thanks to all his supporters.
In late March Thurrock Nub News reported on the start of the cycling effort by Dan Ayris, 26, who had been inspired to take part in an event organised by the Alzheimer's Society
Dan is a reception teacher at a borough school and was motivated to make his contribution after reading about the Society's 250 mile challenge – calling on supporters to 'Cycle for Dementia', which is a national event running until the end of June.
Dan, from Stanford-le-Hope, has now completed the challenge and today (Monday, 3 May) said: "I love to take on new challenges and have raised £730, beating the original £400 target.
"What an adventure it's been! The page is on its last day today. I finished the event a few weeks ago, the page was up for the full 30 days but, we completed the event in 18. I cannot thank you enough.
"The support offered in encouragement every day, sharing my posts, liking my posts and to those who donated.
"Thank you so much, it really isn't an easy time to give money and with an original target of £400 your amazing kindness helped us to nearly double that and we finished on £730 total. Again, you are wonderful, thank you. Until the next time."
