HAVING failed in an application to build eight new homes on a green belt site in a borough village, developers have gone back to Thurrock Council with a plan to build two new homes.

Architects 'Stone Me' have submitted a plan for two new homes on land to the rear of 'Conifers' on Brentwood Road and adjacent to Orchard House on Peartree Lane in Bulphan.

The application states: "This is currently a disused agricultural site containing a large dilapidated agricultural storage building, as well as other storage sheds and shipping containers. There is also a large area of hard standing on the application site.

"We acknowledge that there has been a previous refused planning application for eight detached dwellings with associated amenity space however, the revised scheme has been greatly reduced and we believe the reduction in volume from eight to two dwelling houses along with other design decisions more than mitigates the previous reason for refusal.

"The proposed properties will be set back by around 30m from Peartree Lane, in doing so this will allow them to remain fairly hidden and unintrusive to the street scene. In addition, much of the shared space between the proposed properties and the road will be covered by wild landscaping. In essence this will allow the site to retain a more natural appearance along with the large open spaces behind the houses contributing to the open space."

Bulphan has been the subject of many applications for new builds, with several getting the green light, while others were refused.

The previous application for Peartree Lane was one of three thrown out at the same planning meeting in August 2019.
