Developers find out doubling up was not a good idea

A BID by developers to double up and increase the the numbers of new homes on a plot in Stanford-le-Hope has ended in rejection.

In November Thurrock Nub News reported on a submission of a planning application for land to the rear of Fairview Avenue known as Whitwell Court.

It was an attempt to double the number of homes on the plot after a successful application for two new homes established the principle of building on the site.

But planners decided the developers had bitten off more than officers were prepared to chew and the new scheme has been rejected.

Officers have declared the second application was unacceptable because its scale, layout and design would result in an overbearing addition within the site, indicative of overdevelopment and harmful to the character of the surrounding area, and an overbearing impact upon neighbouring amenity.

The proposal would also lead to a loss of privacy and thereby amenity to neighbours by virtue of overlooking.

Officers did concede there would be adequate parking and the access is considered to be suitable and any ecology impacts would be mitigatable through planning conditions and contributions.
