AN outline planning application for eight homes on a wooded infill site between two borough residential roads has been submitted to Thurrock Council.

The proposal is to build the homes, accessed by a narrow lane, between Ryde Drive and Fairview Avenue in Stanford-le-Hope.

The scheme has already been opposed by a number of residents, those on Ryde Drive highlighting the fact that their privacy will be breached by the properties on higher ground, while residents on Fairview Avenue are concerned by access and parking issues on what is already a busy and crowded one-way system.

Applicants are the Incidental Land Company, and it is planned the eight homes, which will have two, three or four bedrooms, will be built by Taylor Wimpey. The applicants say they have accrued ownership of the land over a number of years, latterly working in conjunction with Darren Higgins of 22 Fairview Avenue and Mark Richards of 24 Fairview, who appear to have ceded some of their land to allow access via an existing lane.

Entry to the site will be via a narrow lane at the side of number 22 Fairview Avenue.

And the submission appears to be attempting to take advantage of the lack of an updated local development plan, saying: "At time of writing, the current Development Plan is approaching 10 years old and becoming increasingly outdated. In such circumstances, the 'tilted balance' is engaged, where the local planning authority is required to apply a presumption in favour of sustainable development in their planning decisions."

The planned housing comprises three two bed homes, four three bed homes and one four bed home.

The applicant's planning statement can be read here.
