DETAILS of the funeral service for popular Thurrock fundraiser Stan Wall have now been announced – as has news of a permanent memorial to him with a local bus to be named in tribute.

Stan's death was reported on Thurrock Nub News last month and prompted many tributes to the 96-year-old from Chadwell St Mary who raised close to £200,000 for good causes.

His funeral service will take place on Monday, 18 September at 11am at St John's Church, Dock Road, Tilbury, and he will be laid to rest at Chadwell cemetery at 12.

A family spokesperson said: "We would be happy to see as many people who wish to attend. Let's give him a great send off!"

The wake will be for family and close friends.

It is requested that flowers be from family only, However the family added: "If anyone wishes to make a donation in Stan's name, we have chosen a charity close to his heart: 'Help For Heroes'. You can find it here: https://herofunds.helpforheroes.org.uk/in-memory/Stan-the-man

Meanwhile The Ensign Bus Company is to name one of its vehicles after Stan and a naming ceremony will take place in Chadwell St Mary in the near future. Nub News hopes to be able to share details of the event shortly.
