A FIRE in an alleyway in Tilbury this afternoon (Wednesday, 7 September) destroyed a number of fences.

It happened behind properties on Arkright Road and the incident was attended by firefighters, police and ambulance service.

Police are currently (5pm) reported to be on the scene carrying out an investigation and the incident is being linked locally to an attack on, and a possible theft of robbery of, a local delivery van.

Emergency services have been contacted for a comment, with the ambulance service confirming they attended but saying no-one needed transporting for further care.

Updates to follow.
