THE first result declared in the Thurrock Council elections was a hold for Labour in the Tilbury St Chads ward.

Veteran councillor Steve Liddiard won his fourth term of office with a thumping victory against David Morgan but it was a very low turn-out - just one in five eligible votors made their mark.

Result

  • Steve Liddiard (Labour) - 670
  • David Morgan (Conservative) - 221

Majority 449

Electorate: 4,308 Ballot Papers Issued: 901. Turnout: 20.91%
