A COUNCILLOR has pledged a fix to stop a glitch in a recently upgraded subway security camera system.

Last month Thurrock Nub News reported on the upgrade to cameras and a monitoring system on the Abbotts Hall Chase subway that had fallen into disrepair in recent years.

Cllr Shane Hebb and his colleague Cllr Shane Ralph were pictured at the scene in January and and Cllr Hebb said: "We have been campaigning for some time to have the system replaced, and we are appreciative to all those involved who have enabled this system to be upgraded, and put back into place."

However, this weekend it was reported that the screens meant to show users of the subway that it was clear and safe were not working again.

Today (Sunday, 19 February) Cllr hebb revisited the site and has set a process in place to get a quick fix.

He told Nub News this morning: "I have just popped down to the subway and the monitors are not showing the live image relay."I contacted the service engineer who is part of the installation company and I have been told that cameras are still recording.

"There is a relay component, which has failed (seemingly following a power blip) and a part will be installed on Thursday so the live relay image will be back presented on the TV screens."
