THURROCK'S Foodbank has issued an appeal for toilet paper and other non food essential items - as well as for food supplies - as some stock levels grow critical.

The Corringham-based charity's business co-ordinator Sandra Sawle says: "We have got to a critical shortage level in regards to a number of food items from tins of fish and fruit to custard and teabags

"And one non food item that no household ever wants to run out of. Would you be willing to donate some toilet rolls for a family in crisis ?

"Or arrange a collection for us among your family, friends or neighbours?"

You can make contact with Sandra via the charity's Facebook page.

Meanwhile Sandra has highlighted one local young person who has pitched in to help with her dad. She says: "This lovely young lady called Penelope came to our warehouse yesterday with a fantastic donation weighing 64.8kg. Thank you so much Penelope you are a star. Thank you also to her dad for helping Penelope to deliver to us."
