FRIENDS of a young Thurrock man killed in an accident at the Port of Tilbury are raising funds to help his family pay for the funeral.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services who rushed to the scene, Robbie Owen Reeves, 20, died after being crushed by a trailer at the port early on Tuesday morning. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive has been launched into his death.

Robbie's friend Hayley Dunster, together with Tina Garrod, have launched a crowdfunding page on the GoFundMe website and by late Wednesday evening almost £1,500 had been donated towards a target of £5,000.

Hayley says: "Nobody expects to bury their own son. Tragically Robbie was killed at work and I would like to raise money to help his family give him the best send off.

"Please help me to support Robbie's family at this time. All money raised will help cover the cost of Robbie's funeral.

"Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need anymore information and thank you so much for your support."
