Gateway leaders tell of pride in students and the community around school

WITh reports nationally of a drop in success levels, Tilbury's Gateway Academy says its outgoing Year 11 students have achieved some of the highest results in the Academy's history, with Maths, English, and Science performing significantly above the national average overall.

Headteacher Grainne McLaughlin expressed her gratitude to the students for their 'outstanding contributions' to the Academy and said she was confident they will go on to accomplish great things.

Mrs McLaughlin said: "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our 2024 Year 11 cohort for everything they have achieved during their time with us.

"I am proud of each and every student. They are an absolutely inspiring year group who make working in education a complete privilege."

She also extended her thanks to the 'exceptional' staff, parents, and carers who have supported the students, as well as to the vibrant Academy community and emphasised that the local community should take pride in their young people, who are excelling academically, athletically, and in the arts.

Viki Reid, CEO of the GLC, also expressed her pride, saying: "I am incredibly proud of all our Year 11 students who have achieved excellent GCSE results.

"They have demonstrated our core values of responsibility, resilience, compassion and aspiration in everything they have done throughout their time here.

"Their success is also a reflection of the dedication and expertise of a fantastic team of teachers, the inspirational leadership of Mrs McLaughlin and her team and the commitment and support of their parents and carers.

!I wish them every success in their future and hope they keep in touch to tell us about the positive contribution they go on to make to our community and the wider world."
