Golfers undertake marathon in tribute to Dr Nick Tressider and to support MND Association

A TEAM of players at Langdon Hills Golf Club have reached the half way point today (Monday, 16 June) of a 72 hole challenge to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory and tribute to a colleague, friend and club member who passed away recently.
Dr Nick Tressider was a popular and well-known figure in Stanford-le-Hope where he was a GP and leading partner at Hassengate Medical Centre - and also a long time rugby supporter and member at Stanford RFC.
He was also a longtime member at Langdon Hills and part of a group that became known as the 'Swindle Club' which have been playing together every Saturday for more than 25 years.

Six years ago Dr Nick Tressider was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and became a fundraiser and supporter of the MND Association, raising not just cash, but awareness of the condition.
He kept playing golf as long as physically he was able and he would still attend the golf club and have a couple of drinks in the clubhouse until he was unable to.
He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his close family on Monday, 5 May.

In tribute members at the club organised today's marathon around the course, teeing off at 5am and completing two rounds by lunchtime.
They hope to complete the 72 holes in the early evening.
The event is sponsored and anyone who would like to contribute can do so via the Just Giving page that has been set up.
The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
By sponsoring today's event, your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association.
