POLICE are no longer looking for Terence Purkiss who they had wanted to speak to in connection with an incident where it was reported a vehicle was driven at an officer.

A 33 year-old man from Grays was arrested this morning (Tuesday, 16 June) on suspicion of GBH with intent and is currently in custody.

The arrest was in connection with an incident last night (Saturday, 13 June) on Bradleigh Avenue, Grays, where the driver of a black Landrover Freelander attempted to cause grievous bodily harm to a police officer.

The driver, who had been arrested on suspicion of driving offences, had refused to provide a breath test sample and to get out of the vehicle.

As an arrest attempt was being made, the man drove away, colliding with two police cars and narrowly missing a police officer.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Grays Police Station on 101.

Information can also be given anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org.
