Tributes have been left at the crash scene where young East Tilbury man Finnlay Lowe died earlier this month.

THE inquest into the death of East Tilbury man Finnlay Lowe, who was killed in a crash in the village in the early hours of Wednesday, 3 August opened, and was adjourned, in Chelmsford today (Tuesday, 16 August).

The coroner was told that Finnlay was the sole occupant of the car when it crashed and left the road. He died at the scene having suffered severe injuries.

Meanwhile Finnlay's mum, Helen, has announced details of his funeral, which will take place next week. The service will be at Pitsea Crematorium at 2.30pm on Tuesday, 23 August.

Helen said her family remain moved by the many messages of sympathy and support from the local community and said everyone would be welcome at the service.

She said: "I honestly don't know how to write this. Whether to call it the details of Finnlay's funeral or Finnlay's celebration of life, either way, we are broken. Finn lived with his whole being.

"We have had beautiful tributes sent to us and we want you to know how grateful we are that these words have been shared with us.

"Please do continue to share your stories, we love seeing the photos and videos of him, send them to his Facebook however silly. We thank you for those memories.

"We also want to acknowledge, with the greatest of thanks, the Go Fund me that was set up for Finnlay. The kindness has overwhelmed us.

"We have had multiple messages regarding attending, the answer is "of course". We will leave from Colne, East Tilbury at 1.40pm. We will be going to the George and Dragon in Linford afterwards.

"Please wear bright colours (he loved hot pink).

"We are asking for family flowers only, there will be a collection for Thurrock Harriers if people wish."
