Veterans tucked in thanks to Legion and Morrisons

By Neil Speight 16th Aug 2022

VETERANS from the armed forces were treated to a slap up breakfast courtesy of the Grays Thurrock Branch of the Royal British Legion and Morrisons.

The event, held at the Grays store yesterday (Monday, 15 August) was the second organised by the branch and supported by the store's community champion Tarnya Bennett.

Deputy mayor Cllr Sue Little, local Grays councillor John Kent and West Thurrock ward councillor Georgette Polley also attended, as did communities portfolio holder Cllr Qaisar Abbas.

Rod Oakley, president of the branch, thanked all those who supported the event, paying particular tribute to Tarnya.

The branch is about to celebrate its centenary with an event at Orsett Hall Hotel next month.
