A BOROUGH community has been thanked for its help in trying to find a missing family pet - but so far the search has proved fruitless.

Mittens is a five and a half year old cat who has gone missing from her home in Furness Close, Chadwell St Mary.

Owner Melissa Firrell says: "Mittens has been with us after being born to a pregnant stray and we have looked after her since her very first breath.

"All the neighbours have been fantastic, they have all checked sheds and garages for Melissa but with no sign of her. Mittens leaves behind her own Mum cat who is missing her as well as her human owners. Mittens is a loved cat who has never gone missing before which is completely out of character for her.

"I have been searching the roads of Chadwell St Mary day and night at different hours for her in the hope of seeing her but sadly she has not shown her face yet.

"The community has been very supportive, shop owners have put her poster up in shops in the hope of a sighting. Mittens is also on the popular Pippa's Army Facebook page, a local lost and found animal group. Volunteer Members of Pippa's Army; Jackie, Michelle, Chantel, Belinda and Debra have all been fantastic in helping me leaflet across Chadwell St Mary."

If you have seen Mittens or know where she might be you are asked to call Melissa on 07719664386.
