THURROCK residents are being reminded by the borough council of way they can access free advice and guidance as part of Mental Health Awareness Week which began today (Monday, 18 May).
The national week aims to raise the profile of looking after our mental health which couldn't be more important at this time.
Cllr Allen Mayes, cabinet member for health and air quality, said: "It's important that residents keep an eye on both their physical and mental health, and seek help if they feel like they need it - especially as our contact with others is restricted during these difficult times.
"We need to raise the profile of mental health and de-stigmatise the act of seeking help and reaching out. It is OK not to be OK and there is support available if you need it from our many services across the borough.
"This year's national theme of 'kindness' is also important to reflect on and I encourage all residents to look out for and be considerate to others, whilst following social distancing guidelines."
Thurrock and Brentwood MIND, Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and Inclusion Thurrock offer a range of support for adults and older residents.
