TRAFFIC is backed up with a major delay on the London-bound A13 after a lorry carrying a boat got stuck under a bridge at the Orsett Cock roundabout.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

A police statement, issued at 7.20pm confirmed the incident. It said: "Drivers are being asked to avoid the Orsett Cock roundabout if they're on the A13.

"The London-bound sliproad is currently at standstill while officers attend to a lorry with a large load, which has become stuck at the location.

"Drivers are advised to seek another route where possible.

"The A13 remains running but there may be delays depending on traffic at the roundabout.

"We, and our partners, are working to resolve the issue as quickly as we can."
