A LAKESIDE-based not-for-profit store is bidding to help local disadvantaged youngsters through its Christmas project.

Earlier this year Nub News reported on the opening of the Kideco store with is an affordable children's clothing outlet.

Now the outlet has launched its Christmas Star Project, having partnered with schools across the borough to try and ensure ensuring children living in poverty receive a gift on Christmas morning.

Shoppers are invited to attend the KidEco store where on a special Christmas tree you will find hanging star tags. Each tag contains the age and gender of a child who is in need of a Christmas gift.

Once you have picked a tag, show a staff member and provide your contact details, then using the information on your tag purchase a gift for your chosen child. Gifts should then be returned to the store no later than Friday, 10 December to ensure Kideco gets them to the schools before Christmas.

Spokesperson Clare Foster said: "Please do not wrap your gifts, but if possible include some wrapping paper with your donation.

"If you are not able to make it down to our store, we are happy to accept donations via bank transfer and a member of our team will purchase the gift on your behalf.

"Please contact the team for more information. These past few years have been extremely hard for many families, help us make a child's Christmas this year."

You can contact the store via this Facebook link.
