TWO caring ten-year olds from East Tilbury were the driving force behind a cake bake and sale in the village pub which has raised more than £400 for the RSPCA.

Ruby Hudson came up with the idea after seeing a video from the animal charity about animal abuse and together with her friend Abbie and the support of the Ship in East Tilbury Village, they set up the cake sale.

Ruby's mum Faye says: "In East Tilbury, we a community of animal lovers!

"Roo watched an awful video online with animal abuse, she cried for hours. Her way of coping was to raise money to help prevent cruelty.

"We had a queue out the door at one point just of people showing support for animals who we clearly all love!

"Roo and Abbie made more than £400 - and still counting and I was in tears at the amount of support several times!

"Myself and the girls can't thank you all enough and thank you to the The Ship for allowing us to host the event there there. Thank you also to Sandra Maslen, Sharon Moseley and Hannah for the donation of cakes. And thank you to all of you can came and spent your hard earned money on a deserving cause.

"It was an overwhelming day of generosity and pure hearts."
